On May 22, 1989 The Safety Marketing Group held it’s first-ever Partnership Conference in St. Louis, Missouri. The group came together to network and share knowledge among a band of like minded distributors interested in getting safety equipment to the far reaching corners of industry. Since these humble beginnings, the strength of the group has positioned it to be the foundation of a Safety Network dedicated to serving and advancing the safety industry.

Mike Smeaton

Mike Smeaton

President

Michael “Mike” Smeaton serves as President of the Safety Marketing Group. Mike has over 39 years of experience in the industrial safety marketplace. Prior to becoming SMG President, Mike worked in American Optical’s Safety Division as a Regional Sales Manager until he acquired a portion of Quad City Safety, Inc. In 1989 Mike purchased the remaining portion of Quad City Safety and, over the next decade, turned it into one of the leading independent safety distributors in the United States.

Mike attended both The University of Iowa and St. Ambrose University. He has two children, Mike, Jr. and Melissa. Mike is married to Deborah Smeaton.

Originally from Iowa, Jennifer moved to Florida to work for a leading safety equipment manufacturer. There her role centered around both inside and outside sales. From there she moved into her current position with SMG. With more than 18 years of industry experience Jennifer brings a wealth of knowledge to both distributor and supplier members within SMG. She has a B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa with a major in Business Communications and minor in Education and Social Sciences. She currently resides in Spring Hill, Florida.

Vice President of Distributor Relations & Education

Brandon Hagen began his career as the National Accounts Manager for EMIT Technologies, a manufacturer of emissions control equipment for industrial engines. After leading EMIT’s sales growth, he was recruited by Texas A&M University’s Industrial Distribution Program to become a Lecturer & Professional Development Instructor. Brandon attained a Masters in Industrial Distribution (MID) and during his time at Texas A&M he created and founded “The Lead Generation Game Program” a first of its kind cutting edge sales training program for undergraduate students. The training program is scheduled to be featured in articles and is in the process of being emulated at other universities.

Prior to joining SafetyNetwork.me, Dominic Stamos served as Director of Channel Development for a leading wholesaler. In this capacity, Dominic worked as liaison to 8 different Buying Groups in the Industrial, Safety, Welding, Construction & JanSan markets. Dominic brings over 20 years of industry experience in working with both Independent and National distributors with a focus on helping manufactures and resellers partner to drive profitable sales growth. Although originally from Michigan, Dominic currently resides in Bradenton, FL with his wife and 3 children.
Candy Hagen

Project Manager

Candy Hagen joined the Safety Network team in March of 2018. She brings with her 17+ years of diverse experience in business operations management including her previous position as Human Resources/Payroll Director for a Medical Management Company based in Dallas, TX.

Candy was born and raised in Wisconsin where she met her husband and proceeded to move to Iowa and then onto Texas where their youngest child received an Engineering degree at Texas A&M University. Todd and Candy lived in Texas for over 24 years and then made the move to Florida to be close to immediate family. She is looking forward to this new opportunity supporting the Safety Network family.
